This course is the best instruction in Northern Nevada for individuals who will provide necessary security needs in our community while armed with a handgun. Instruction is delivered by highly experienced former law enforcement and PILB Certified Firearms Instructor(s) (By Appointment only).
The ASOC course is a 2 day (13 hours) delivery that includes the following:
Attendance requirements:

Must be registered with PILB and possess a valid guard card

Cannot be in provisional status

Must be employed and/or sponsored by a licensee and be registered to their online PILB roster

Must have a signed Verification of Employment Armed Security (VEAS) form

Must have valid identification

Must pass written exam 75% or higher
8 hours of lecture and use of force scenario training:
• Firearms Safety
• Basic fundamentals and safe handling of firearms
• Use of a duty holster to include safely drawing and holstering duty firearm
• Loading, unloading, reloading, malfunction clearing
• NRS and NAC 648 requirements
• Use of Force and Use of Force scenario training
• Federal, State, and Local laws
• PILB and Armed Security Officer duties and responsibilities
• Written Exam with passing score of 75% or higher
5 hours of firearms range training:
• Safety Protocols
• Basic fundamentals of shooting
• Use of duty holster including drawing, holstering, and retaining firearm
• Movement
• Positional shooting
• Use of Cover and Concealment
• Shooting from positions using cover and/or concealment
Required Equipment:
• Duty handgun
• 3 magazines
• Duty Belt
• Holster
• Magazine pouches
• 200 rounds of ammunition
• Eye and Ear Protection
PILB Qualifications $25.00
SFA offers the Nevada Private Investigations Licensing Board (PILB) 6 month qualification.
If you need to complete your six month qual, you must:
• Be certified by Nevada PILB
• Be employed by a licensee certified and in good standing with Nevada PILB
• Possess a valid Nevada Armed Security Card
• Must provide Verification of Employment for Armed Security Referral Form (VEAS)
