Basic self defense

Nevada CCW Basic – Learn essential self-defense and concealed carry basics
in a comprehensive one-day course.
This 8-hour class is essential for anyone applying for a Nevada concealed weapons permit and ideal for beginners to handguns, regardless of permit interest. The class includes 6 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of shooting exercises. We ensure personalized attention for newcomers and offer a welcoming environment for all, with options for ladies-only classes. Contact us for more details.

Concealed Weapons Renewal Class.
Nevada CCW Renewal – Quickly refresh your skills and renew your
concealed weapons permit in this half-day class.
This 4-hour class is mandatory for renewing your Nevada concealed weapons permit and serves as a refresher of the Basic class. Note: You can take this renewal class up to 1 year before your permit expires but must apply for the new permit no more than 120 days before expiration to avoid any lapse. If your permit has expired for more than 120 days, you will need to retake the Basic class.
During nice weather we can run this class at the range. We will add slots if we know we will be able to. Check frequently for new slots for the class you want.
Advanced - Pistol Skills Class.
Sharpen your pistol handling with extensive range time
and shooting drills in this intensive class.
This one-day advanced class continues where our basic class ends, focusing on practical shooting skills like drawing, reloading, clearing malfunctions, shooting on the move, and using cover effectively. Precision shooting from a distance and competitive exercises are included to build confidence and ability under stress. Offered only in the spring and fall. If you can’t wait, organize a special session for six or more participants.
This class only runs twice a year, spring and fall.
Sign up early as it fills up. This class is on the range all day working on your skills from start to finish. You will shoot in the neighborhood of 400 rounds and leave totally familiar with your pistol. Limited to first 12 sign ups.
Defensive Rifle Class.
Master the essentials of rifle handling, maintenance,
and accurate shooting in this detailed 6-hour course.
This 6 hour rifle course instructs students on safe handling and operational use of an AR-15 or similar style rifle. The course is designed to familiarize or re familiarize students with techniques that allow the user to safely maintain, operate, and accurately fire their rifle.
Students taking this course do not need prior or formal training. The course will provide basic fundamentals and repetitive drills that will provide students with confidence to handle and use their rifle with confidence. Students will learn to operate their rifle in a close quarter environment and distances up to 50 yards.
Shooting Fundamentals
for Personal Defense.
Develop confidence and competence with handguns
through practical shooting basics and self-defense drills.

This 3 hour handgun course is intended for the beginning shooter, picking up where our Basic class left off. We will give you instruction on shooting basics, teach you how to draw from your holster, make efficient reloads and how to clear a malfunction. Some self defense combat drills to get you tuned up. It is a great session to get you started down the right path with your carry gun and give you confidence with it!
Emergency Medical Response.
Gain vital emergency medical skills to manage life-threatening injuries
with hands-on training from experienced professionals.
This is a new offering from Sierra Firearms Academy now partnered with Richard King, MD – EMERGENCY MEDICINE SOLUTIONS, to provide tactical emergency medical assistance to yourself and others. This training is essential should you or someone around you suffer life threatening injuries.

Emergency Medicine Solutions, PLLC is a professional corporation that specializes in providing medical education, training, and medical response program development. Dr. King is board certified in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. He started his medical career in EMS in 1991 and was a paramedic for a decade before graduating UC Davis School of Medicine in 2006. In addition to working in the hospital, Dr. King is a sworn reserve peace officer and has worked as a SWAT physician since 2014. Dr. King is passionate about helping teams and individuals be prepared to manage medical emergencies before help arrives.
This class is done in the training center and will run about 6 hours. It is hands on training you won’t find anywhere else. We highly recommend taking this class! Get the details under the more info dropdown or link above.

Cleaning & Maintenance Class.
Learn the best practices for keeping your firearms in
top condition from experienced armorer instructors.
This 2 hour class will show you how to clean and maintain your firearm in top condition so you can depend on it when you need it.
Most shooters have their own methods for cleaning their guns, some are good and some not so good. We will show you how we do it, learned from the manufacturers, to keep them in reliable working order.
This is a new offering, so we will start with your handguns. The class will be limited to 12, and more classes will be added to meet the demand.
Rifle and shotgun require different tools and methods, so classes on them will be offered soon.

Laser Simulator Training.
Enhance your decision-making and shooting skills
in various simulated scenarios with our advanced laser simulator.
We have a great Laser simulator that has a ton of fun skill building exercises on it, and many interactive shoot / no shoot videos. The scenarios put you in real deadly force encounters, and help you learn how to make life or death decisions. Your adrenaline will be flowing!
This is the perfect way for you and a friend or 3 to get some great indoor practice and training during lousy weather or evenings. We offer the service of the simulator and one of us to coach by appointment only, for $100 an hour.

What should I bring to my training class?
For all firearms classes, please bring your firearm, appropriate ammunition, eye and ear protection, and suitable clothing for weather conditions. Specific classes may have additional requirements, which are listed on the class sign-up page.
